RSI – Ontario Graduate Scholarship
Congratulations to RELEARN Lab PhD student Sarah Gregor on receiving a 2019-2020 Ontario Graduate Scholarship!
Sarah is a graduate of the Masters of Science in Physical Therapy program at the University of Toronto. As a physiotherapist, Sarah is interested to research rehabilitation questions that she can one day apply to her day-to-day practice. She is specifically interested in how walking can be improved after stroke. Sarah’s doctoral work explores the underlying mechanisms of temporal gait asymmetry in stroke survivors.
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at publicly-assisted universities in Ontario. Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study.
RELEARN Research Week 2019
RELEARN Lab undergraduate research assistants Meria Djirar, Hayley Ng, and Filip Potempski presented the work they completed over the course of the summer at our RELEARN Research Day this year.
Great work everyone!
Rehab Week 2019
Lauren presented her work as a RELEARN lab undergraduate research assistant at Rehab Week 2019.
Lauren examined the feasibility of at-home participation in a dance class via live-streaming. The at-home group was compared to an in-class group on a variety of different outcomes. She found that a live-streamed, home dance program is a safe and feasible alternative to an in-class program for people with stroke. However, some of the benefits of the in-class program such as social connection may be lost.
First Dance Group Complete!
After 12 weeks and 24 dance classes, the first 9 participants of the dance study have graduated. Congratulations to all of our participants! We are excited and preparing for the next round of the study.
Thank you to our dance instructor, Miriam from danceAbilities, for her wonderful programming!
